Introduction

The Technical Education Department, Uttarakhand is at the forefront of shaping a dynamic and future-ready technical education system. Committed to excellence, we are driving innovation, skill development, and industry-aligned learning to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical expertise. Department plays a crucial role in setting educational standards, improving the quality of technical institutions, and enhancing employment opportunities at both state and national levels.

In order to give impetus to the development of technical education keeping in view the geographical, social and economic conditions of the state, the Uttarakhand government has established 71 Government & 1 Government aided polytechnic institutions across the state, in which along with conventional courses like engineering, technology, management, architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology and design technology etc., employment oriented courses are also being conducted in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning, automation and robotics, gaming animation, cloud computing, aircraft maintenance, cyber forensics and information security and mechatronics, so that the youth of the state are acquiring skills according to the requirements of modern technologies and industries. These institutes provide modern technical knowledge to the students and encourage them for research and innovation. To run these institutions and improve the quality of education, state level offices like Directorate of Technical Education, Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, and Joint Entrance Examination and Training, Research Development Cell have been established. Several key programs/initiatives and reforms of the Government concerning the technical education at Diploma level in Uttarakhand are operated by these bodies.
